Self-care as community care is a core value for Alphabet Rockers. This song held a lot for us - all the emotions of the multiple pandemics - and the pain in our own lives. In the outro, you’ll hear Kaitlin McGaw wailing in background vocals, like that release we all need. “(Practicing radical self-care) means we’re able to bring our entire selves into the movement,” says Angela Y. Davis, “It means we incorporate into our work as activists ways of acknowledging and hopefully moving beyond trauma. It means a holistic approach.” We really want you to know you’re not alone in this - we feel it too.
